Zu Deutschland pflegt NATHAN GRAY eine enge Verbindung. Die Post-Hardcore-Kapelle BOYSETSFIRE aus Newark/Delaware (keine Party ohne ihren Smasher „Rookie“!), bei der der charismatische Amerikaner im Brotberuf singt, erfreut sich hierzulande seit vielen Jahren anhaltender Beliebtheit und hat irgendwann sogar einen deutschen Bassisten an Bord genommen.
Wie es in Hardcore-Kreisen gerade en vogue ist, so hat auch Gray parallel (s)eine Solokarriere am Laufen, die komplett stromlos auskommt. Statt BLACK FLAG und den DEAD KENNEDYS heißen die Helden plötzlich (wieder) DYLAN, CASH und SPRINGSTEEN. Liedermacherei ist der neue/alte Punkrock! Jetzt also auch noch Nathan Gray: An der Wanderklampfe kehrt der in Ehren ergrauter Punkrock-Aktivist sein verletzliches Ich hervor, singt und erzählt von Selbstzweifeln, von sexuellem Missbrauch in der eigenen Kindheit und vom nicht enden wollenden Kampf gegen die inneren Dämonen.
„Live in Wiesbaden/Iserlohn“ zeigt diese andere Seite des BOYSETSFIRE-Sängers: Die Doppel-CD/LP plus DVD wurde bei zwei intimen Shows in der Wiesbadener Ringkirche sowie in der Dechenhöhle in Isarlohn mitgeschnitten. Begleitet wird der Punkrock-Barde bei seinen energischen, mutmachenden Liedern (eigene Stücke sowie BOYSETFIRE-Songs) von SISTERS OF MERCY-Gitarrist Ben Christo und der Berliner Cellistin Isabelle Klemt. Für Fans sicher nicht uninteressant.
