Mit „Death and Consolation“ steht demnächst das neue Album der Psychedelic Doom / Stoner Rock-Band THE WELL in den Verkaufsregalen. Es ist nach „Samsara“ (2014) und „Pagan Science“ (2016) das dritte Album des texanischen Trios.
„Death and Consolation“ soll dabei das bislang dunkelste und intensivste Album von THE WELL sein. Sänger und Gitarrist Ian Graham erklärt: “This one is a little more personal. 2018 was a strange, dark year. A lot of change going on in my life, there was a lot of depression and coming out of it over the last year. I wanted to call this „Death and Consolation“, because in life thats a constant.”
Für die Produktion im Estuary Studio wurde erneut auf die Dienste von Chico Jones zurückgegriffen, um einen organisch erdigen Sound zu erzielen. Auch der Purismus-Gedanke von Graham spielt dabei eine Rolle: “This album might be a little less produced, because I didnt want to push technical stuff as much. I´m so scared of getting too complicated when getting better at guitar. This is still kind of punk rock.”
„Death and Consolation“ von THE WELL wird am 26. April 2019 via RidingEasy Records erscheinen. Erste Tracks vom Album gibt es auf Bandcamp zu hören.
