Die Post Black Metal-Band TOMBS hat im Herbst 2020 mit “Under Sullen Skies” ein neues Album veröffentlicht. Jetzt hat die Formation einen Visualizer-Clip zu ihrem Song “Secrets Of The Black Sun” bei YouTube hochgeladen.
Reinhören kann bereits seit Oktober 2020 in den dritten Preview-Song “The Hunger”. Anfang Oktober erschien die zweite Single “Bone Furnace” als Audiostream bei YouTube. Vorab gab es zudem den Track “Barren” zu hören.
“The album’s title came during all this and the sort of post-apocalyptic world we’re living in,” erklärt Gitarrist und Sänger Mike Hill. “It encapsulates an overall feeling of gloom and depression which is pretty much how we’ve been living for most of this year. The title was the last piece to fall into place. I remember standing on the roof of the building I was living in at the time on a grey day and it was raining – actually, it wasn’t even raining; it was a half-assed attempt at rain! – and depressing and I just thought, “What a sullen sky” and it just stuck with me.”
“Under Sullen Skies” ist das fünfte Album der US-Amerikaner aus Brooklyn und wurde in den Fright Box Studios in New Jersey aufgenommen. Als Produzent fungierte Bobby Torres (u.a. für WINDFAERER tätig). Das Cover-Artwork stammt aus der Feder von Jean-Emmanuel “Valnoir” Simoulin (u.a für DYNFARI tätig).
Weiterhin wirken auf dem Album eine Reihe von Gast-Musikern mit: So gibt es gesangliche Gast-Beiträge von Paul Delaney (BLACK ANVIL), Dwid Hellion (INTEGRITY) und Sera Timms (IDES OF GEMINI, BLACK MATH HORSEMAN) sowie Gitarren-Soli von Todd Stern (PSYCROPTIC), Ray Suhy (SIX FEET UNDER) und Andy Thomas (BLACK CROWN INITIATE).
TOMBS bestehen aus Bandgründer Mike Hill, Bassist Drew Murphy (HAMMER FIGHT), Drummer Justin Spaeth (ABACINATE, HAMMER FIGHT) und Gitarrist Matt Medeiros (RUINOUS).
