Die Technical Death Metal-Band DEEDS OF FLESH hat mit „Nucleus“ ein neues Album angekündigt. Das neunte Album gilt gewissermaßen als Tribute-Album für den 2018 verstorbenen Bandgründer Erik Lindmark.
Dieser war auch noch Teil des Songwriting-Prozesses – gemeinsam mit Gitarrist Craig Peters (Ex-ARKAIK), Bassist Ivan Munguia (CONTINUUM) und Drummer Darren Cesca (GORATORY). Und ein Großteil der Musik wurde vor rund vier Jahren auch aufgenommen und teilweise gemixt. Für die Vocals holte die Band den ehemaligen Sänger Jacoby Kingston zurück ins Boot, der gemeinsam mit dem früheren Drummer Mike Hamilton (EXHUMED) an der Finalisierung der Story und der Lyrics arbeitete.
„After we started the writing process for „Nucleus“ about seven years ago, I’m very glad that now fans will be able to hear what we’ve been working on“, erklärt Craig Peters. „This album is special to me because I got to work closely with Erik on the material to really craft a cinematic experience for the listener. With the passing of Erik we were all saddened by the news and not sure where things would go with the album and the band. It only seemed right to have Jacoby and Mike come back into the fold to help finish this album. They’re such a huge part of the DEEDS OF FLESH legacy that I couldn’t see the album completed any other way.“
Mit “Ethereal Ancestors” ist nach „Alyen Scourge“ und dem Titeltrack nun eine weitere Single erschienen. Als Gast-Sänger wirkte dabei George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher (CANNIBAL CORPSE) mit. Sänger Jacoby Kingston meint zur Zusammenarbeit: „Getting to perform dual vocals with George is definitely one of the highlights of my death metal career.“
„Nucleus“ setzt zudem auf eine breite Riege von weiteren Gast-Sängern wie Luc Lemay (GORGUTS), John Gallagher (DYING FETUS), Frank Mullen (SUFFOCATION), Matti Way (SUBMERGED, Ex-DISGORGE), Bill Robinson (DECREPIT BIRTH), Dusty Boisjolie (SEVERED SAVIOR), Anthony Trapani (ODIOUS MORTEM, SEVERED SAVIOR), Obie Flett (PATHOLOGY), Robbe Kok (DISAVOWED) oder Jon Zig (SERPENTIAN).
Das neue Album von DEEDS OF FLESH wird am 11. Dezember 2020 via Unique Leader Records erscheinen.
