I feel very sad about telling you these news, but I don’t see any other way to keep on doing the Zine… Why did I decide to split up the Zine?

To say the truth, we’ve worked very hard on the latest double Issue (#9/#10), it was a great fun, but it was a lot of work, I’ve to admit. I edited the Zine days and nights through many weeks, burned all the comp CD’s myself, so I couldn’t really concentrate on other happenings in my life. As many of you know, I’m a student, too, plus I have to work two jobs to pay my bills, so it was nearly impossible to co-ordinate those things properly.

I thought that there will be a change for the good after the Double Issue came out, but it wasn’t that way. Promoting the Zine was the same hard job, like the editing / reviewing / interviewing phase. Other fanzine makers know, how hard it’s to sell a printed mag. Although that, the latest double Issue and comp CD was a huge success, reaching over 800 fans worldwide, and there is still an option to sell the remained 200 copies to music fans!

A couple of months ago my other goal (forming a Doom label) became a reality, so I’ll publish the debut CD of the mighty VOODOO SHOCK later in the Spring. It’s going to be a huge challenge to promote this awesome three-piece band, so I’d love to dedicate all my time to the label and Voodoo Shock.

Getting started to work on the next Zine in January/2002, I realized that it wouldn’t be possible for me to do both, the Zine and the label with the same enthusiasm and passion. Knowing my person as the best, I know, that I can’t really concentrate on both with 100% motivation.

At the moment, I feel that my heart beats totally (100%) for Voodoo Shock and the label, so now it’s better to close the door for the fanzine. I could have published Zines by varying times in a shorter form, maybe without comp CD, but it wouldn’t be true to my imaginations about a Zine. If I do it, then with 100% passion, sometimes also forgetting totally about my family, girlfriend, study etc…

Now, I feel that the label thing is that what I want to do with 100% enthusiasm: I want to dedicate all my spare time to psycheDOOMelic records and the band Voodoo Shock.

I’ll never regret having done the Zine in it’s 5 years. It was a lot of fun, a huge challenge to build up everything from zero. I became very good friends with a lot of people from all over the world… I’m sure that I’ll be in touch with many of you in the future, too. Apologies to all the bands, that already sent in interviews, and would have been a part of the third “Out of Focus” CD.

I’ll keep on doing the Psychedelic Distribution, so you’ll be able to order quality items (vinyl’s, CD’s, Zines etc.) through my catalogue. But now, it’s time to move a step further.

As I said earlier, I’ll not leave the Doom scene, it’s impossible for me not to support it in some way. I’ll start with the psycheDOOMelic label shortly, watch out for VOODOO SHOCK’s debut in June/July 2002!!! This massive three-piece unit is one of the best underground Doom bands in the world, they’ll crush you totally with their debut!!! Later on, we are planning on to publish other bands, too, but only in the Doom vein.

At the end of this newsletter, I want to thank EVERYBODY that supported the Zine in one way or another,

Keep on supporting Doom Metal,

And please wish me best of luck to my label,

Yours,

Hegedüs Márk / psycheDOOMelic records
