“I moved to Los Angeles in 1989 and kicked around the music scene here, singing in and working as a stage manager for more bands than I can count. After building a site for a band I stage managed for, I discovered I enjoy site construction just as much as music. I saw a real need for promotion and website construction at an affordable price, but most of the people providing site construction had never been involved in music before, much less been in a band. Basically, we do all of the ‘dirty work’ so our clients can concentrate on their careers” says Barr.

MistChild Enterprises started out with just one band, glitter kings Spiders & Snakes, fronted by Lizzie Grey. Grey wrote the Motley Crue hit “Public Enemy #1” with Nikki Sixx while both musicians were in the band London with Nikki Sixx. Sixx later made the song famous when he recorded it for the original version of Motley Crue’s debut album Too Fast For Love. Spiders & Snakes have since re-recorded the song for their latest album London Daze, and a RealAudio sample will soon be posted on their site. MistChild Enterprises now also counts among its clients;

Magnitude 9, a progressive metal band featuring soon-to-be guitar legend Rob Johnson

R.A.F.R. Records, a punk rock record label

Dead Roses, a progressive rock band from Los Angeles

Sansei Records, an independent music label, featuring many of LA’s new underground bands

Best Of Seven, a new hard rock band with members hailing from Los Angeles and Illinois.

According to Barr, MistChild Enterprises is poised for expansion into new and exciting areas. “We already have RealAudio streaming for clients, but will also add a free MP3 section for any bands that want to have their songs online. We will be adding a logo and graphics creation service soon, and are looking at different packages for creating an online store for independent bands. We also want to take advantage of the new distribution method called ‘pay-per-download’, which lets fans download songs they select and pay accordingly. We’ve got to get the details worked out, but the future looks great!”
